Situated on the Montgomery Canal, just 3 miles from Oswestry and about 20 minutes from Shrewsbury, Welshpool and Wrexham, this historic pub is a year-round favourite for those who seek out real food, real ales and a real welcome.
We take great pride in our homemade food, using ethical and seasonal produce where possible. We offer a fantastic range of vegetarian and vegan options plus extensive gluten free dishes – with the aim that all of our meu items can be enjoyed by all of our customers, whatever dietary requirements you may or may not have! We are always happy to discuss specific requirements and to tailor the menu if needed and possible. Just drop us a note or give us a call!
Booking your table
We have a big old building with lots of tables but we have a very small kitchen and one chef! We also have a small team of staff as, like many other places at the moment, recruiting is difficult. We strongly recommend booking in advance if you would like to eat with us. We will always give priority to customers who have booked, and prebooking helps us to judge our staffing levels for a service and what food to prepare. We will try to cater for ‘walk-ins’ but this is not always possible, as it depends on the orders that we have in progress, the staff we have to serve you and the business we have already done (small kitchen remember!). An empty table does not necessarily mean that we can serve more food. We also request that you respect our staff who aim to do their very best under what can often be pressured conditions.
