The Navigation Inn

Maesbury Marsh

Welcome to 20 years at the Navvy

On June 7th 2004 “two idiots from the South” (as the previous owner referred to us after we had given him a huge amount of money!) moved in and took over at The Navigation Inn. We thought maybe 3 years? Well, despite everything the world has thrown at us, on June 7th 2024 we celebrated 20 years of being here. We would like to thank all those who have supported us over that time, through thick and thin. Some of you have become good friends, some still think of us as 2 idiots but we wouldn’t be here without you. We will be having a celebration over the summer but in the meantime a genuine and heartfelt thank you. Cheers and here’s to your good health. We hope to see you soon. Thanks also to our 4 legged friends who have been with us on this 20 year journey and without whom it would have been soooo much harder – Belle and Sebastian (miss you both) and Lola and Franklin.

Welcome to The Navigation Inn, an 18th Century Canal Side Pub and Restaurant, situated on the banks of the beautiful Montgomery Canal.

Originally built as a warehouse in 1798 to serve the canal and with subsequent additions, ‘The Navvy‘ is a building oozing character and history with real fires and beams aplenty!  Pay us a visit and be sure of a warm welcome, whether just for a drink or to enjoy our homemade food.

Let’s go to The Navvy – they welcome dogs! You drive, I’ll navigate!

Situated on the Montgomery Canal

a friendly village pub offering classic home cooked food

We can’t stand those stuffy country pubs with signs on the door saying ‘NO DOGS’ and ‘NO MUDDY BOOTS’.  At The Navvy well behaved dogs, children and walkers are all welcome!  Dogs are allowed in the bar area, and are welcome to sit by your table whilst you eat as long as they are kept under control and do not cause a disturbance to other guests.  Children of all ages are also welcome in the bar and dining room, but once again we ask they they do not run around the building unsupervised.
