Who We Are

Once famously described as "Two idiots from the south!" Brent Ellis and Mark Baggett co-own and fully manage The Navigation Inn.
We bought the business in June 2004 having given up careers in marketing and the media to pursue a long held ambition to run a country pub.  Although complete novices in the hospitality industry we have learned much in our tenure and are still learning!  Our ambition 'to create the kind of place we would want to eat and drink in' remains the same.

We are ably assisted by the kitchen team of highly respected chefs, plus waiters, bar staff and cleaners without whom none of this would be possible. Last, but certainly not least is Belle, our German Shepherd who is responsible for Navigation Inn security and barking at dogs who have the cheek to venture onto 'her' tow path, from the safety of her upstairs vantage point.  Belle has just turned 8 and, like all of us, is massively missing Sebbie, here as long as we have been, who unfortunately passed away a couple of days before Christmas 2015.  She may be gone physically, but her spirit is in every part of the building.  Miss you babes!

Our Kitchen staff prepare and cook all of the food you eat here 99% from scratch, so who are the culinary greats responsible for this?

Head Chef is 31 year old Jack Hatley, born in Queens Head Oswestry, Jack has worked and gained knowledge at a variety of kitchens in both Jersey and the UK including the prestigious Grovesner Hotel in Chester. Jack fully supports our food policy and philosophy and is continually updating our menus to keep them fresh.

Jack is assisted by 2nd Chef Craig Page who is 22 and outside of work focussed on his Citroen C2!
